Roasted some maple and cherry in the oven. Cherry was dark all the way through, maple not so much, but the house had a sickly sweet smell of burnt maple syrup for about 3-4 days. She told me to stick to top sirloin. See if I let her use my table saw again! Alex |

I have always counted myself blessed to have a supportive wife. Sometimes I wonder when that is going to run out. My first trouble moment was when I used one of her cake spatulas and her iron to remove a fretboard. I then got a pretty big "are you serious" when I told her I needed an air system in my shop. I was then pretty good for a while. But if you really want to get a serious eye roll, get into old tools. That has been my last two years. I have been "in trouble" every time I have "convinced" my wife that I need to sell off a perfectly functional tool for a not so functional old tool that needs parts and time put into it. HA. I say all that to say I have a very blessed life with a great wife. |

I have to say that my wife is extremely supportave , as I am of her. She quilts and wanted a programmable sewing machine made by Husqe Varna , yes the Chain saw guys have a sewing machine factory . The USED one was 2,900.00 she bought it . So as long as bills are paid we dont worry about each others hobbies . When she DOES get testy is when I overdraw my Debit account buying something. That gets me the "look" |

Actually it's more the other way around for me. I caught her using my fret tang nippers to cut some wire hangers for some project she was working on. I'm always looking for drill bits, drill's, or most of my tools. I know now if they are not where they belong she's probably taken it to use on something. She knows to NEVER use my fret hammer for anything!

"You have a shop full of tools and you need what?" My Grandfather was the Ace of using Granny's baking pans for one of his projects, ruining it and having to buy her a new one. Honey. where is the turkey baster? In your shop again? Buy me a new one, will you! Your guitars are taking up half of the living room wall! |

Stealing her hair dryer for hide glue jobs and dust. Man, the dust always has me in deep. I used it as an excuse to install an expensive dust collection system which keeps my shop nice and clean but you can still write your name on all of the furniture with your finger. Like a few people have mentioned, my wife is very supportive. Last night, we were talking about an Arts & Crafts style dining set that I'm planning on building after I get my guitar done. While going over the plans for the chairs, she asked me how the curved backs and legs were cut. Me: With a band saw Wife: Do you have one? Me: No, but I'll get it done, somehow. Wife: What would the retail be for 8 of these chairs? Me: $5,600 - $6,400 Wife: Can you use it for building guitars, too? Me: Yup Wife: You'd better buy one then! Me: I need a drum sander, too...... Using the steam iron for flattening plates prior to gluing and not bringing back to the house from the shop. Same sin with the hair dryer. |

Crock pots make excellent HHG warmers, and she never misses them in the warmer months but be mighty careful when you are testing the temperature with her new digital thermometer used for all her baking needs, because you can knock the glue over into the pot whilst similtaneously dropping the digi therm into the whole sticky mess and destroying it in the process. And I swear that with all the heat and cleaning agents used to hide the evidence any slow cooked meal still tastes a little gamey.  Steve P.S. The replacement thermometer was only available in a slightly different updated model.

Count me among those with a wonderful and supportive wife. It helps that she is an artist and loves adding my wood scraps to her work. She is also a thrift store junkie, addicted to the thrill of the hunt. All I have to do is show her something I could use (clamps, planes, chisels--whatever) and it won't be long before she starts texting pics from various shops around town, asking if I want her to bring an item home. She's the best! Although she does think there are far too many guitars around here.

When we go to the pants store she's always "now don't wear these out in the woodshed". All my pants have glue and shellac on them hahahahha |
